01 / After the studioThe dressing matters.
When to remove or replace the dressing depends on the material used. Follow the specific instructions for your film or dressing, rather than timings for a different product.
If the dressing leaks, is damaged, or causes significant irritation, ask for advice. Avoid unnecessary touching of the fresh tattoo.
02 / Clean hands, gentle careBe gentle with it.
- Wash your hands before touching the tattoo.
- Following your dressing instructions, gently clean with water and a little mild cleanser, then rinse thoroughly.
- Gently pat dry with clean paper or a clean towel. Do not rub.
- Apply a thin layer of the recommended aftercare product. Do not keep the skin under a thick layer of cream.
- Do not use disinfectant or antibiotic cream on your own initiative.
03 / Until fully healedGive your skin time.
Avoid soaking, swimming pools, natural bodies of water, and saunas. Gentle showers are a better way to wash.
Do not scratch or pick at peeling skin or scabs. Wear clean, comfortable clothing that does not rub the tattoo. Wait before activities that cause heavy sweating and friction.
Protect a fresh tattoo from direct sunlight. Only apply sunscreen to the area once it is fully healed.
04 / Watch for changesDon’t wait if it gets worse.
Tenderness and mild redness can occur early in healing. Worsening or spreading symptoms should not automatically be considered normal.
See a doctor if you suspect an infection.
Spreading redness, increasing pain, pus, fever, or red streaks call for prompt medical advice. Do not try to mask symptoms with more creams. Breathing difficulties or rapidly developing severe swelling require immediate emergency care.
05 / Once fully healedYours for the long run.
Moisturise fully healed skin as needed. In the sun, protect your tattoo with clothing and a suitable high-SPF sunscreen.
Healing time varies. Ask if you are unsure about the dressing or aftercare; contact a doctor for health concerns.
